Our Summer Livingroom (Finally) and Fun Vintage Finds

It's been too long since I've posted!!These are summer pics of our house.I have already have fall decorations taken down and Christmas stuff up.It was high time to get these on here!!We have had a busy summer-lots of traveling, parties and fun times.(next post)Don't worry,we worked too.LOTS!!As in almost every Monday-Saturday--daylight till 10 pm or later.Funny,I didn't get many pics of that.=)This post will contain lots of pics-I warn you!
Some fun, vintage finds...I always wanted an old highchair.I found this at a yardsale with lots of old stuff.I fell in love instantly!!
I like the color-it's gender neutral..I would've never thot of painting a highchair this shade tho.

Tight-wad me cringed when I saw the price.Because I already had a highchair.I only WANTED this one. Then I heard the seller telling others she's taking less money for some things.I took a deep breath and asked if she'd take less for this chair.I hate doing that.It makes me feel like I'm a cheapy(even tho I am).I really thot it was worth this money, but decided to ask.She told me-"I'll let you have it for $5." Uh,WHAT??!!I nearly fell over!!My heart literally skipped a beat!I know I sounded like a giddy,high-pitched crazy woman as I started jabbering about how I love antiques and yada,yada,yada...I gave her a big hug,(she looked rather stunned and said something about she's glad I'll enjoy it so much)clutched that chair in my fists and stuck in the back of the vehicle before anyone could take a second look at it.Hubby said they used to have one at home when he was little that looked almost identical, but was unpainted.
A dear old man sold these shoe forms to me for $4.00.They have my Mom's maiden name stamped on the side.

Another old man had lots of cool stuff-but the prices were kinda high.I managed to find this little beauty for $10.I was looking at some on Ebay, but again...just too cheap to pay more than $20 on something I don't use.I love old cameras!!It makes me smile every time I see it.Think of all the crazy outfits, wacky hairdos and footwear this thing has clicked at.Wonder where all it has traveled...=)

Here's some pics of our beach/slight travel themed livingroom this summer.Poor quality,I know.I've been reading about ISO,lighting and such stuff since.I promise.
The blue dresser is a repo find. The drawing of me & Slim was done by an artist at a festival in town while we were dating.
The sunburst mirror was made by wonderfully talented and beautiful sister-in-law.I love it!!
Did I ever mention that I love old maps??=)This one is from the 1950's.I want to put it in my son's room once I give it a makeover.Yep,I'm gonna do it one day.I promised now,so there's no backing out.
The old door was found on Craigslist-the seller lived only a few miles from me.The other side is white. The cool old ammunition boxes came out of a repo barn-free.I really should start writing all the people who lose their barns thank you notes for supplying me with free home decor. The lovely blue jars are also a repo barn find.I'm so glad my Hubby knows what I like!!
I bought the crock from my aunt who had a whole pallet load of them.Love it!
This little box was inside the old trunk we use as our coffee table.Chippy old green paint makes me smile.
The mirror was another repo find.I made the pillow case from old curtains and cut the cross from Hubby's old jeans.
The clock was a wedding gift.It has now found a home in the dining room. The "stick balls" are from Ross.Slim's Dad made the desk for him.It stores all our books, photo albums and games.
My Mom was gonna put these wooden shoes on her yard sale.I rescued them. They're a great conversation starter.
This leather stool/foot rest was found at the thrift store for $2!I love the design.Makes me feel "Morracan-ish".Is that a word??
These chairs were in Slim's family.I thought about painting them but might put them in Kobe's room.

My beach inspired mantel.I took some things down and liked it better like this-less cluttered.Excuse the long toes.I was taking a break and enjoying my cheap livingroom.Next thing on the to-do list-change the curtains that are soo not my style!!Do  you see the pillow (on the pic below)on the left of the wicker sofa??I was the winner of Dear Lillie's give-away one month!!EEK!!I couldn't believe it!!I'll try to put a better pic on sometime.I love the beautiful scrolly Give Thanks lettering!!Check out her amazing blog Dear Lillie -beautiful house, clothes and lil girlies!!(I'm not sure how to link to other blogs yet,so you may have to look up her blog separately)
The aloe vera plant is till alive after surviving a severe beating from a mischevious little boy...
I found some wooden bowls at a yard sale. Two of my cupboard doors were taken off to show them off.

We had a fun movie night at home awhile back.I ran a brown paper bag thru the printer after having fun on Printshop.Of course,I thought of taking pictures after the popcorn was in the bag and made it greasy.

And,I gotta show him off!!This is his favorite snuggle spot besides Mama. He's been grumpy the last while because of teething and a rash. But I love him to death anyway!!

Lukewarm Coffee

Coffee-the wonderful aroma that fills our kitchen every morning.Well, mornings that I get up early enough to make it.It's what has kept me going these last few days.Baby is teething, fussy  and not sleeping good at night. The cool, grey rainy mornings makes me wanna crawl back in bed and get in just a few more long winks of sleep. But Mommies can't always do as they please. So there is coffee to keep them going.A wake-up drink to arouse your brain cells and urge your senses to come alive.

I've enjoyed studying about lukewarm Christians the last few weeks. The Bible talks about the Laodicean church-blindly conceited, smug & selfish, focusing inward instead of Christ. So many "Christians" and churches could easily be compared to them.America seems to be sleeping-an alarming amount of sins which are plainly wrote out in the Bible are now lawful and considered standard. What are we Christians doing-going to church, criticizing those people and becoming calloused to everything.Soon we don't think they are THAT bad and shrug it off-saying if they want to live like that and do their own thing, then let them.We can't change them anyway. No,we can't change their hearts and actions.Only Christ can.Are we showing them Christ??Up!Drowsy child of God,awake!
So often when I think of the government,I think of the corrupt things they are allowing to happen. It seems as tho they have their eyes shut, not seeing the danger of it all.But what about my own life??Sure,I didn't have an abortion.Or do drugs. But what about the things I allow to creep into my life-thinking it won't hurt..it's not that serious..it's just little..causing my focus to dwell on things, myself and family instead of God??Think of the pain and jealousness God must feel when we serve Him with a lukewarm heart. He gave His TOTAL best-His ONLY Son-the one thing closest to his heart,so that I could have an intimate relationship with Him.Only to have me think more about my house, decorations, work piling up because my baby is fussy...the list goes on & on.Yes,I read the Bible, pray,go to church and am involved with the youth group...But is my heart really in it??
Do I sigh when my turn to clean the churchhouse comes around?Do I get all nervous when I feel like I should talk to the worn out looking lady with the wailing snotty-nosed kid at the grocery store? When was the last time I really read His Word-soaking it all up,not keeping track of time??Do my prayers consist of thanking God for the day,my family and asking Him to bless me?To bless me when I don't even feel like praising Him?Am I willing to limit my time reading blogs,Facebook..looking at Pinterest.. and spend more time with Him??Ouch-I am SO guilty of ALL these things.I go thru all the motions of being a Christian, thinking that somehow that's enough. It looks good and others think I'm ok.It's all about me.As long as I can get by with enough "religion" to make me feel good about myself,I'm happy.Such a shame-considering about how MUCH Christ willingly did for me!!
Lukewarm coffee is just disgusting in my opinion.I tried drinking some this morning.Steamy hot or iced-oh,yes.But half way in between makes me shiver and makes me wanna spit it out.God feels the same way about lukewarm Christians."So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot,I will spew thee out of my mouth."-Revelation 3:16.Lukewarmness is serious! You do the right things, but don't have the zeal & love for God that shines out & encourages others to be willing to serve God more fully. We lack conviction and are half-hearted.We have a false sense of security, thinking we are spiritually alive and well.We tend to gauge our spiritual depth or status -and justifying ourselves-with other lukewarm Christians.Extremely dangerous!!Jesus said in Revelation 3:15 that he actually prefers a spiritually cold person to one that is lukewarm. He does not want anyone to perish-it grieves His heart. How much more it must grieve Him to condemn the lukewarm Christian who is decieved and thinks that he is on the straight and narrow way.
Christ is there for us ALL the time.Even when we half-heartedly worship Him,ignore Him too much and focus too much on ourselves.Which is great news, because I have a LOT of growing to do!!I want to serve Him with ALL of my heart, mind and soul-to have a close relationship with Him and give Him all the glory-which is why He created us in the first place!
  Check your temperature-hot,cold or lukewarm??
