Kobe's 1st Birthday Party

It's hard to believe my lil baby is a year old already!!My first blog post was about the lil cutie. He's loved so much and is so fun right now. He's not walking yet because of some issues with his right foot, but we're getting chiropractor treatments to fix that.I love his cute curls, his 4little teeth and well, basically everything about him!!He loves dancing to music, being read to and playing with his Daddy. His favorite thing to do right now is tear everything out of the kitchen cabinets.

I decided to have an airplane party last fall already,so I could look for stuff ahead of time and make a lot of the stuff to save $$.Airplane stuff is not quite as popular as Spiderman, etc. so I'm glad I had plenty of time to shop and create things.I wanted it to be blue/gray/orange,vintage/travel-themed and fun.I think we accomplished it.I didn't have much time to take pictures of things before the party started so bear with me on these.I used Printshop to make his party invitations and printed them onto postcard paper. They were made to look like tickets.I don't have pictures of the whole tickets. My neice and nephew took the guests' ticket stubs as they came in the door.

I printed these posters up and put them inside the door.

This was the kid's "Baggage Claim" area.I filled mugs with coton candy and topped them with airplane cutouts with the kid's names on them. They had blue & orange M&Ms and Tootsie Rolls to snack on too.Brown paper bags held a toy airplane and airplane pictures to color.I found the little gray airplanes at Walmart in the clearance section.Scrabble tiles spelled Fly Away and Airborne.

I drew an airplane and framed it.The food labels were made of cardstock paper and stickers.

I used twine and clothespins to hang up a pic of Kobe from each month. So hard to believe he used to be soo tiny!!
The food table-Guests grabbed utensils and plates off the trunk and suitcase. An old map hung behind the table.I hung clouds made from cardstock paper covered with quilt batting from the ceiling.I bought the red airplane at Hobby Lobby at 50% off.I made a paper airplane garland to hang on the front of the table.Cupckes were stacked on a d-i-y stand on top of an old ammunition box in the center of the table.Drinks(in pint-sized mason jars)were packed in an old suitcase.I used twine instead of ribbon for the balloons for a vintage feel.

Fun decorations.I found an airplane puch at Hobby Lobby on clearance and punched airplnes out of an old atlas.
Slim's old globe piggy bank and a chalkboard sign..

I'll transalate this for you-Pilot Stuffers=Hot Ham&Cheese Sandwiches
Passenger Pleasers=Party Mix
Blue Skies=Tapioca Dessert
CloudCakes=Cupcakes
Frozen Clouds=Icecream Cups
Insructor Buttons=M&Ms
Clouds of Cotton=Cotton Candy
Jet Fuel=Sweet Tea

A friend of mine made the cupcakes. They were delicious!!The toppers were made from cotton balls hot-glued onto toothpicks.I punched out airplanes and hot-glued those on top.

One of the best pics I got of him all night=/.He looked handsome in his adorable aviator hat(from Ebay) and his little leather Air Force jacket.

It was so much fun to watch him open his gifts. He sat there with sparkling eyes, literally oohing and aahing over all his presents.
This was his 2nd!! cupcake-after he was cleaned up a little from eating the first one.

I love my lil chubster soo much!!

Our Summer Livingroom (Finally) and Fun Vintage Finds

It's been too long since I've posted!!These are summer pics of our house.I have already have fall decorations taken down and Christmas stuff up.It was high time to get these on here!!We have had a busy summer-lots of traveling, parties and fun times.(next post)Don't worry,we worked too.LOTS!!As in almost every Monday-Saturday--daylight till 10 pm or later.Funny,I didn't get many pics of that.=)This post will contain lots of pics-I warn you!
Some fun, vintage finds...I always wanted an old highchair.I found this at a yardsale with lots of old stuff.I fell in love instantly!!
I like the color-it's gender neutral..I would've never thot of painting a highchair this shade tho.

Tight-wad me cringed when I saw the price.Because I already had a highchair.I only WANTED this one. Then I heard the seller telling others she's taking less money for some things.I took a deep breath and asked if she'd take less for this chair.I hate doing that.It makes me feel like I'm a cheapy(even tho I am).I really thot it was worth this money, but decided to ask.She told me-"I'll let you have it for $5." Uh,WHAT??!!I nearly fell over!!My heart literally skipped a beat!I know I sounded like a giddy,high-pitched crazy woman as I started jabbering about how I love antiques and yada,yada,yada...I gave her a big hug,(she looked rather stunned and said something about she's glad I'll enjoy it so much)clutched that chair in my fists and stuck in the back of the vehicle before anyone could take a second look at it.Hubby said they used to have one at home when he was little that looked almost identical, but was unpainted.
A dear old man sold these shoe forms to me for $4.00.They have my Mom's maiden name stamped on the side.

Another old man had lots of cool stuff-but the prices were kinda high.I managed to find this little beauty for $10.I was looking at some on Ebay, but again...just too cheap to pay more than $20 on something I don't use.I love old cameras!!It makes me smile every time I see it.Think of all the crazy outfits, wacky hairdos and footwear this thing has clicked at.Wonder where all it has traveled...=)

Here's some pics of our beach/slight travel themed livingroom this summer.Poor quality,I know.I've been reading about ISO,lighting and such stuff since.I promise.
The blue dresser is a repo find. The drawing of me & Slim was done by an artist at a festival in town while we were dating.
The sunburst mirror was made by wonderfully talented and beautiful sister-in-law.I love it!!
Did I ever mention that I love old maps??=)This one is from the 1950's.I want to put it in my son's room once I give it a makeover.Yep,I'm gonna do it one day.I promised now,so there's no backing out.
The old door was found on Craigslist-the seller lived only a few miles from me.The other side is white. The cool old ammunition boxes came out of a repo barn-free.I really should start writing all the people who lose their barns thank you notes for supplying me with free home decor. The lovely blue jars are also a repo barn find.I'm so glad my Hubby knows what I like!!
I bought the crock from my aunt who had a whole pallet load of them.Love it!
This little box was inside the old trunk we use as our coffee table.Chippy old green paint makes me smile.
The mirror was another repo find.I made the pillow case from old curtains and cut the cross from Hubby's old jeans.
The clock was a wedding gift.It has now found a home in the dining room. The "stick balls" are from Ross.Slim's Dad made the desk for him.It stores all our books, photo albums and games.
My Mom was gonna put these wooden shoes on her yard sale.I rescued them. They're a great conversation starter.
This leather stool/foot rest was found at the thrift store for $2!I love the design.Makes me feel "Morracan-ish".Is that a word??
These chairs were in Slim's family.I thought about painting them but might put them in Kobe's room.

My beach inspired mantel.I took some things down and liked it better like this-less cluttered.Excuse the long toes.I was taking a break and enjoying my cheap livingroom.Next thing on the to-do list-change the curtains that are soo not my style!!Do  you see the pillow (on the pic below)on the left of the wicker sofa??I was the winner of Dear Lillie's give-away one month!!EEK!!I couldn't believe it!!I'll try to put a better pic on sometime.I love the beautiful scrolly Give Thanks lettering!!Check out her amazing blog Dear Lillie -beautiful house, clothes and lil girlies!!(I'm not sure how to link to other blogs yet,so you may have to look up her blog separately)
The aloe vera plant is till alive after surviving a severe beating from a mischevious little boy...
I found some wooden bowls at a yard sale. Two of my cupboard doors were taken off to show them off.

We had a fun movie night at home awhile back.I ran a brown paper bag thru the printer after having fun on Printshop.Of course,I thought of taking pictures after the popcorn was in the bag and made it greasy.

And,I gotta show him off!!This is his favorite snuggle spot besides Mama. He's been grumpy the last while because of teething and a rash. But I love him to death anyway!!
  ~Till next time,
